2 Day Safari - Tarangire & Lake Manyara National Park
Elephant Herds and Tree-Climbing Lions in Two Days
Overview
About This Safari
This two-day safari combines two of northern Tanzania's most rewarding parks, each with a completely different character. Day one belongs to Tarangire - Tanzania's elephant capital, where herds of 200 or more move between towering baobab trees along the life-giving Tarangire River.
Day two shifts to Lake Manyara, a narrow ribbon of groundwater forest, open floodplain and alkaline lake squeezed against the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions - a behaviour found almost nowhere else in Africa - as well as vast flocks of flamingo along the lake shore and troops of blue monkey and baboon in the forest canopy.
An overnight stay near Lake Manyara breaks up the two parks, giving you two full, unhurried game-viewing days rather than a single rushed one.

The Experience
Early pickup and drive south to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing along the river circuit. Tarangire holds Tanzania's highest elephant density, with super-herds converging on the Tarangire River, especially during the dry season. Ancient baobab trees dot the landscape, providing shade for lion and leopard, while giraffe, zebra and impala move through the open woodland. Late afternoon transfer to your lodge near Lake Manyara.
